... technically, I should knock a few stars off for the fact the beginning took me three years to slug through ... but all is forgiven now.

Sanderson writes the perfect romance. Plain and simple (take that phrase either way, it was meant as both).

I FINALLY FINISHED THIS GLORIOUS HUNKER OF A BOOK. (after approximately five months)

Who am I kidding? The next two books are larger, and don't get me started on how big the Stormlight Archives are since I'm planning to get to them...

Although hyped up, this book turned out amazing. It took me forever to go through the first half of this book, just because I didn't feel like reading most of the time and I was going through one of my hardest times in school. During my Christmas break, I managed to I FINALLY FINISHED THIS GLORIOUS HUNKER OF A BOOK. (after approximately five months)

Who am I kidding? The next two books are larger, and don't get me started on how big the Stormlight Archives are since I'm planning to get to them...

Although hyped up, this book turned out amazing. It took me forever to go through the first half of this book, just because I didn't feel like reading most of the time and I was going through one of my hardest times in school. During my Christmas break, I managed to plow through the entire second half in less than two weeks and it was so worth it.

The ending was quite unpredictable and I did not see any of those things happening quite early on considering this is a first book in a 'trilogy' (excluding the next spin-off novels in the same world).

What I loved:
- The magic system. The best explained magic system that I have ever read. Although some of the later explanations in the second half (especially about Copper and Bronze) confused me a little and I had to reread them a few times, the system was sophisticated and laid out really nicely. Unlike some other messy, all-over-the-place magic *cough* Maas *cough*
- Our beautiful, precious protagonist Vin. We get to see her grow into herself as she goes from a common thief to a powerful young woman. She has grown and faced so much hardships, training, fighting and grief. She has become one of my favourite characters of all time.
- The characters. Literally all of them, even the Lord Ruler (okay, maybe not the Obligators or Inquisitors. They still freak me out). The crew was amazing, everyone of them. Each of them was so different and they all fit each other to make a perfect team, with their friendship, love and banter.
- The small element of romance in this. If you know me, romance is something I literally have to have in every book I read to make it enjoyable for me. The romance in this wasn't strong or taking the entire focus of the story. It complemented the story so well and I loved it so much. (view spoiler)

There really wasn't anything that I hated (at least, not a thing that I can think of the top of my head right now). Also, that ending>> (view spoiler)

This was really enjoyable, considering its (probably) my first, real adult fantasy book. I can't wait to find out what happens next, since this one wrapped things up pretty nicely and I'm not sure what exactly will happen in the next book. ...more

This book was absolutely amazing, and probably is one of the best fantasy books I have ever read. Brandon Sanderson starts off by developing this interesting world and political system in a way that was great to read yet still informative. And all of his characters were so thoroughly developed, yet still mysterious in their actions and words. What a journey!
The most interesting part of this entire book was understanding the “magic” system and how Allomancy worked. Sanderson’s imagination is wild. That, combined with the character development, equated an impressive story of survival, bravery, friendship, leadership and perseverance.
We have our classic repetitive themes found in other Fantasy books, yet combined with characters that make everything feel unique.
