Ahh - what do i say of this unexpected gem of a series!
i risked it, like a lot of my other books, on a flight, since none my regulars were available at the airport shop, and thank god for that!
what sets the novel (and the series)apart, is the wit! tongue in cheek, this djinni, never lets a situation go by to make one smile!
the story is decent, and runs pretty taut, and the book is pretty much unputdownable! i finished the whole series after this asap, and have re-read the whole thing (maybe for ...more

These books are strictly for fantasy fiction fans. Bartimaeus is a djinni with a formidable lineage. He is ancient, 5000 years old. Here is what wikipedia has to say about him:

After reading the series for the second time recently, concluded that the first book is really the best though the other two are great too. Can't get over the footnote comments that really crack you up.

the best book in my veiw .....this thing gets your heart beating at a crazy speed .the wit of barty is totally awsome . The ego of nathaneil is fantastic.It's a must have book.
