I'm starting to get worried that my favorite minor characters in Christie mysteries always turn out to be the murderer. Either I have a worrying taste in people, or Christie likes using our own biases against ourselves, and makes appealing characters turn out to be the bad guys.
I wonder if whatever principle is at work is the same one that inevitably makes my favorite minor character be the only one to die. (see, Hobbit, The, only dwarf character to get killed off).

Dame Agatha outdoes herself with this one, where we have one of the morst reprehensible psychopthic serial killers in her reperoire. Although the plot sacrifices plausibility for complexity--like the killer really must have a lot of energy to make so much extra work for himself--I'm willing to overlook it for the surprise twists and turns that only Poirot can see through, This one is not to be missed by any Christie-lovers.
