I continue my review of Dame Agatha's stories, with this as my latest conquest. I don't know if perhaps I'd read about this book before, but I guessed whodunit right from the start.
It was a tricky story, though, and I was almost surprised, and somewhat saddened, that I was right. Still, I am so entranced by the storytelling, the characters, and the plot, I eagerly look forward to the next book. Agatha Christie's mysteries are always entertaining distractions.

I found out who did the murder well before I ever read this book because of reading another book. I hate that!! I can't explain to you how bad I hate that! This book, especially, would have been so much more had I not known in the beginning. It was a fun read, and I guess knowing "who-dun-it" made it a different experience as I could see what hints were being made and how Poirot was working. I would recommend reading the book, even if you aren't an Agatha Christie fan....and I envy your not know

Hastings is not in this book. It kind of makes you think of Fred without Ginger. Of Rogers without Hammerstein. But anyway you cut it, Hercule Poirot is still the star of the show. A wealthy man is found dead. Who killed him? Could it have been one of the heirs, who was desperate to get the man's money? Against overwhelming odds, Poirot finds it out. The master sleuth is back! Retirement did not last.
