My second Orwell after 1984 and I liked it. This is a very short book, my copy had less than 100 pages. I think many observations discussed in this book were developed to a mythology when he wrote 1984 some years later. The message of the book in my opinion can be very compactly expressed by this quote from 1984:
"Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship." ...more

I liked this book slightly better than 1984. The forward was very interesting as to the historical portrayal of the pigs.
