I loved the Narnia series as a child, my book The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe was much loved and thumbed through. I read it as a delightful fantasy only realising in late adolescence that while C S Lewis had borrowed from many mythologies that the central tenet of his book was that Aslan was Christ. My feelings were perhaps not quite as negative as Philip Pullman, whose acclaimed fantasy series His Dark Materials was written as critical response to The Chronicles, but I do agree with J K Ro

Religious themes aside, it is a beautiful, magical story, that has become a classic for a good reason. While I read a lot of good children's books as a child and since, this is one of those truly memorable ones. I remember feeling as if I were in Narnia, the descriptions were so vivid and real. Yes, looking forward to sharing this one with the kids soon too.
