A likeable read by (Dame) Ngaio Marsh, describing the now-familiar story of the unexpected murder of one member of an upper-class group spending the weekend at a country manor - as popularized by Agatha Christie.
I find Detective-Inspector Alleyn's conclusions doubtful and his suspects universally irritating, but I suspect this characterization is simply part of the story, and the inspector arrived at the right end, even if his means were found wanting. Regrettably, the work of Ngaio Marsh is no
