TW: abuse/assault (off the page but talked about semi-graphicly), dog death by dehydration
Honestly? This book was garbage. I see a lot of 5-star reviews and I'm not sure what book they read? Because it wasn't the book I read. I gave 1 extra star for those bright shiny ending last few pages. (view spoiler) But the whole premise was just disgusting, seemed lazy and ill-researched, and Millie, ...more

I'm so glad I finally read this book I had heard everyone raving about. It definitely lived up to the hype for me. It's the story about a seemingly perfect marriage, with a slow build that is so creepy it made my skin crawl. The use of flashbacks is so effective in building suspense. There are so many authors trying to make this exact plot work, and Paris is definitely at the top of the list for authors who know how to work this story line the right way.

I listened to the Audible version mixed with reading the Kindle version.
I was really looking forward to reading this book. Perhaps my excitement over it raised my expectations too high. It isn’t a bad story. The Audible version is excellently read. I enjoyed the reader a lot. The story though broke down for me a little over the half way mark. That was when it became plodding to me, then suddenly ended. For me the book just didn’t live up to my expectation. In my opinion, this is one of those bo ...more

I listened to the Audible version.
I found the story interesting. It definitely held my attention. I really enjoyed Georgia Maguire's performance. Perhaps it was her narration that kept me glued. I really liked her interpretation of the characters.
I listened to it from beginning to end. Normally, unless it is a novella, I take breaks the same as I do with paper or Kindle books. Yes, I did find a few things predictable but I also was surprised at times. In my opinion, that balanced out. The plo ...more

Wow, this book was very riveting. The perfect couple and the perfect marriage, or was it? I can't tell you how hard it was reading this book and not to scream out loud. To think there could be monsters out there like this. The ending was perfect!

This is one of the psychological thrillers I have read this year! Gripping the book and holding my breathe. I had to make myself put it down at 11:00 last night or I would have finished! I can't wait to read more by this author!
