Shelves: historical-fiction

I really liked the gothic atmosphere, the plot and the characters of this book. It is a very good of example of historical fiction/mystery.
I especially liked Daniel and Fermin. The writing and decription of Barcelona is also beautiful.
However, the pacing of the book was really slow and some bits felt a bit repetative in the third quarter of the book.
Overall, it is a very good book and I will read the other books in this series because of its atmospheric writing style.

Very, very well written book. I loved the setting of Barcelona, Spain. The beginning of the book is kinda slow and therefore take a bit to get into, but once the plot and characters get more developed this story turns into a page turner. I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because I feel like I should have been more emotionally invested than I ultimately was.
