Sort of a mashup between The Rosie Project and A Man Called Ove (and maybe a sprinkling of White Oleander, too). I *loved* this book. Eleanor was quirky and awkward but as you got to know her and watch her development you just fall head over heels for her. She’s been so damaged by her past (that you suspect the whole book, but that Eleanor tries very hard to suppress) but wants so badly to have a “normal” life - affection, friendship, love. Stayed up way past my bedtime last night to finish this perfectly quirky and charming read! You can't help but LOVE Eleanor and find such a soft spot for her and all her quirks. Aspects of her story and character are revealed slowly throughout the book and it just builds and builds.
