What a great way to end my reading in 2017. I absolutely loved this book.
The story at it's core is about a single dad and his three children. The oldest, Davy, commits a crime and escapes rather than be convicted. The dad and other two children take a road trip to try to find him. It's all narrated by an older Reuben, the middle child, looking back on this time in their lives. The plot is not was definitely not a page-turner, yet I found myself devouring this book. Each character was crackling ...more

This was beautifully written! I’d give it five stars just on the writing. However, it was the meandering storytelling that made me lose interest a few times and that kept me from finishing this book quickly. I would highly recommend this if you like well-written, wholesome family stories with a touch of the miraculous. :)
