This is a well-written historical romance/thriller.
Young Lucy is sold by her drunken father to a well-to-do man which immediately created the first mystery in my mind. His intentions are surprising. The book continues to raise questions which kept me turning the pages and cheering Lucy on. Very enjoyable and I never wanted to skip a well-written word in this fascinating plot - until I got to a very dark and alarming episode.
