Why did I get emotional at the end of this book? It's such a conveniently assembled and rushed ending too. It's like Pratchett got bored somewhere at the end and said, ah eff it.
I liked it though. I liked Mort's character especially, even though I felt that by the end he became less textured. Ysabelle was so much fun to read, with layers to her that almost always contributed to comedic effect but nevertheless made her likable. Man, I really like Death. Terry Pratchett never fails to make me laugh. I am no stranger to the Discworld Series; thus far, I have read 14 of these books, and each of them is an absolutely whimsical delight. Mort, however, is a particular favorite of mine. Just the premise of the all-powerful specter of death seeking an apprentice is hysterical, and the fact that it’s Mort, the least desirable prospective apprentice, makes it all the more hilarious. I'd forgotten how funny these books were. A nice, light read and it can be a lovely "palate cleanser" between heavier books
