I first read this classic over ten years ago - in fact I read it multiple times, considering it my favorite book at one point - and I figured I would give it another whirl. Seconds before the earth is destroyed Arthur Dent is taken away by Ford Prefect. Ford is an editor for the revised Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. They begin a tour of the galaxy with a motley collection of travelers in an odd, impossible ship. This is a tongue in cheek view of life and death in the modern world.

Reread when it turned out to be the only unlistened-to book on my mp3 player on a loooong drive. Stephen Fry is a great narrator. The book is amusing, so amusing, I LOVE the sidebars. It's like living marginalia. I was saddened to find I only had the first book on there, but will correct that shortly.
