Amazing book about mental illness. At first, I was hesitant to read/listen to this book because I thought "oh this is going to trivialize mental illness". But it was totally spot on. Accurate put still hilarious, a lot of things that seem serious at the time can be looked at as funny later on. My favorite book I've read in the last 6 months.

Furiously Happy is a charmingly ridiculous account of Jenny Lawson’s living with mental illness. When reading this book, I can honestly say that I laughed out loud more than once (literally LOL). Sometimes it was the events that were absurd, and other times it was her asides, her comments on language use, and her references to how her husband responds to her bizarre antics.
I did find that some of Jenny’s stories verged on the obscene, and I started to doubt that she wasn’t exaggerating some of ...more

I expected this book to be an eye-opening account about life with mental illness, with some occasional dark humor to highlight the difficult and sometimes absurd dilemmas that life with mental illness can bring. However, while this book does talk about mental illness in an open and honest way, and impress the importance of support, acceptance and inclusion of this community and the individuals who struggle with these diseases, this book was mostly a laugh-out-loud funny account of Lawson's absur

Jenny Lawson is able to write about her own life and mental health issues and make it interesting and funny. I read her blog, so I knew a number of these stories before reading the book.
I laughed, I cried, I laughed until I cried.
A series of short essays, this book can be read a little at a time.
My favorite was Skinterventions and Bangtox about going with her friend for a microdermabrasion treatment. Why do we do these things to ourselves?

Loved this book. At times a bit too outrageous, but really funny at times. And then there are the chapters where you feel like "Here is someone who actually understands what it's like." And she reminds you (and herself) that you're not alone and that there's always light at the end of the tunnel. And to make the most of life when it's good.
I want to buy this book so I can read this whenever I'm having a hard time, and I want to read her first book ASAP!

Oh, I laughed almost as much as with the first book Let's Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir, but I also cried, and hugged (mentally), and felt like part of a way bigger and crazier community. wonderful.
