I thought this would be a great book to read for Women's History month, and it was. I try not to read much of a book's synopsis because I hate spoilers. I thought this would be a book about women scientists working in a lab, like Marie Curie. Imagine my surprise to find out that the women in this book work in a factory painting glow in the dark watches with paint mixed with radium! This could not end well! Even more disappointing: it's a true story.

What a devastating story. I don't believe I ever heard the story of these ladies that were contaminated by radium which they were exposed to through their work painting dials. This was important work for the war effort and the ladies were proud of what they did. Tragically, their work killed them. Their bones glowed. It's such a cruel story and it makes you wonder what is this generation's unknown toxin that we are exposed to all the time. The book was fast paced. I admired the women and enjoyed
