What Members Thought

Definitely a horror comic. It feels very Southern Gothic and is full of ickiness and spookiness. There's some nice background here and our central character is interesting, as is her father. But, it doesn't feel like we've gotten to the plot yet, just the setup. So it'll take another volume to see where this is actually going.

A farmer's daughter who MAY be possessed by the spirit of a dead witch finds the flat empty skin of a boy in the woods. It twitches and whispers secrets and squirms around, so naturally she takes it home and keeps it in a drawer.

Beautiful and creepy story & art. Loved the pencils w/ watercolor washes and the story was a delightful introduction to this strange, dark world. I can't wait to go back in for more.

Harrow County is an interesting little book about witches. Specifically a witch that is killed by the townsfolk and promises to seek revenge on them. Enter her counterpart that has no idea of her strange birth, but begins to exhibit signs of being a witch.
I love the art. The places and monsters are great. The people are okay. They almost seem a little unfinished. That's probably the best way that I can describe it. Even when the book enters places that are a bit hazy, there is a sense of place w ...more

A good start to the series--went dark much faster than I was expecting it to! I'm probably going to say this with every single instalment, but I looooove watercolour. So beautiful.
