Okay, well, I guess I never got around to writing a review the first time I read this. It's understandable, I suppose because I was hopelessly addicted to this book when I first read it. I gobbled this thing up and couldn't get enough. I think that my feelings for this book are still in the same zone as they were the first time around.

As I was reading this one, I realized that I was enjoying the POVs that weren’t Aelin’s or Rowan’s more. I was never bored in this book (there’s way too much happening for that) but I felt their story was more predictable, therefore less interesting. But by the end though, I was fully invested in both of them again. Only to find out that the next book is not about them. That is okay. I trust this author now and am sure the next one will be good too.

Definitely don't start this book if you don't have the next two ready. This ends with a hell of a cliffhanger, and the next book follows Chaol and doesn't address it at all--everything is saved for the finale. Honestly, thinking back, this book feels like an interim book, moving pieces into place for that finale. Like the previous books, it has a large conflict at the climax, but instead of tidying and tying up plotlines, it opens more up. I really enjoyed the ending twists though--and people wh
