Science fiction isn’t usually my thing. There are exceptions; I loved Dark Matter and the Red Rising series and the Illuminae Files. Ender’s Game remains one of my favorite books from my childhood. But usually with science fiction I have to love the characters and plot enough to look past the science, or science has to be barely present. First 5 star read of 2016 for a non reread book.
What can I say, but I loved this book. The humour kept me amused and helped make a dire situation much more lighthearted than it really was. All I wanted was Mark Watney to make it home alive!
I had already seen the movie and well there were a few changes between the two, it in no way affected my enjoyed of the novel.

Though, unfortunately, my wife observed me laughing out loud several times while reading the book and now she's going to re ...more

These characters are funny! The story is so gripping that up until the very last line you're left enthralled. Well done

Loved it! Only 3 days at a fairly slow pace via Kindle app, I'm impressed with myself. Enjoyed the style of vid blog? Not sure how else to describe it. Can't wait for the movie!
