I've been fascinated by octopuses* ever since stumbling on a PBS documentary a few years ago, so I was delighted to learn that the title character of Remarkably Bright Creatures is an octopus named Marcellus, who lives in a somewhat rundown aquarium in a small seaside town in Washington. I don’t like tear-jerker books & I was a little nervous at the beginning that this was going to be one of them. Though there were definitely some sad parts, I ended up really enjoying this story.
I had a hard time getting past the basic premise of a puppet overlord octopus, but it was a charming book
