I read this book as the first in a book club I just joined. I love that it was a book I never would have picked myself. I had never even heard of Shirley Jackson.
The story had so many different layers. At the discussion everyone agreed that we could probably have talked about it for hours. Writing Style That Kept Me Reading
I didn’t really know what to expect but I did know that I enjoyed The Haunting Of Hill House and this was meant to be better.
This book is told from the perspective of Mary Katherine (Merricat) and I found it quiet interesting with it being told this way. She is completely unreliable as a narrator, who is telling the story, her account of it, and it kept me guessing throughout.
