Gave the audiobook of Andy Weir's Project Hail Mary a solid three and a half hours of my drivetime today. I had really looked forward to this after hearing it praised on WSIRN and elsewhere, but the story just didn't move fast enough for me. It's true the reader does a spectacular job, but even so, this isn't for me.

Ohmigosh….what did I just read?! Ha! That was the craziest outer space sci-fi adventure that I have read in a long time. It had quite a few interesting plot twists, gave me goosebumps more than once, had me laughing, had me tearful, and had me asking “what in the world?!”. It was a great novel and a fun read. My only complaint is that the author spent a large amount of time trying to explain the astrophysics math equations, I guess to try and explain why it could be realistic, and I had no idea

A delightful unputdownable read. Very much like The Martian - Ryland Grace is an astronaut MacGyver who uses carefully explained science to overcome overwhelming obstacles that keeps getting thrown at him. The book does require some suspension of disbelief - mostly around the simplistic flat side characters back on Earth, or when hard science meets mcguffin - but they didn't really bother me all too much. This was so fun to read! Good pace, likable characters, lots of humor throughout the book. I found out they're making this into a movie, so I'll definitely be watching that when it comes out.
