Ohmigosh….what did I just read?! Ha! That was the craziest outer space sci-fi adventure that I have read in a long time. It had quite a few interesting plot twists, gave me goosebumps more than once, had me laughing, had me tearful, and had me asking “what in the world?!”. It was a great novel and a fun read. My only complaint is that the author spent a large amount of time trying to explain the astrophysics math equations, I guess to try and explain why it could be realistic, and I had no idea

A delightful unputdownable read. Very much like The Martian - Ryland Grace is an astronaut MacGyver who uses carefully explained science to overcome overwhelming obstacles that keeps getting thrown at him. The book does require some suspension of disbelief - mostly around the simplistic flat side characters back on Earth, or when hard science meets mcguffin - but they didn't really bother me all too much. I didn't love the Martian nearly as much as everyone else did, primarily due to the main character and his relentless and terrible jokes. Unfortunately, the main character of this book seems to share a brain with the MC from the Martian, leading me to believe that he's basically an author stand-in.
I'm just not interested in books without interesting characters, so I DNF'd this book at 30%. ...more

This was so fun to read! Good pace, likable characters, lots of humor throughout the book. I found out they're making this into a movie, so I'll definitely be watching that when it comes out.
