I loved this movie as a kid. And finally getting around to the book it’s like a whole new adventure. There is really not a lot of similarity in the events of of the book and the events of the movie. The movie is better in a lot of ways, including plot structure, but the book is what started it all. It was certainly charming and enjoyable. My biggest critique is that the challenges that arose were solved almost as immediately as the showed up. Everything was too easy. That said, it was whimsical ...more
