I listened to the abridged version and I have no clue what was going on.
My epic, two month journey through War and Peace has ended....and it was worth every minute! The novel was absolutely amazing! The characters had such depth and the multiple story lines kept the momentum of the book moving forward. The chapters were short and because they often skipped around to the various story lines, you rarely got bogged down. First of all, I do not recommend listening to this as an audiobook. The reader used voices that were largely obnoxious and in my experience, it took away from the experience. I wished I could re-read and highlight sections--which obviously couldn't happen. So perhaps in some future time I will need to actually read the novel rather than listen. But I made it through 59 hours, so, yay for me!
