What Members Thought

For the most part a well written novel about the Aristocratic society set in New York City during the 1870's. I can understand why this was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in the 1920's. I think most women today are very grateful to not have lived and loved during such a repressive culture. I noticed that the author didn't give us much insight into the lives of those who made it possible for the super wealthy to go about their daily lives. people will be the same forever. always afraid of anything different or unusual & always judging & condeming those who do not have that fear. it was true when this book was written & it is true today.
it was a great read. the characters were well developed - apart from may but i think that is just because i thought she was very manipulative.
