What Members Thought

Good book. I don't have any experience with autism but by reading this I can understand the frustration the parents and the child are going through.

Portrayed through the eyes of a boy with Aspergers, this is an interesting - and sometimes confusing - story. The confusion, though, is what helped to really build the plotline and to show what the cognitive processing and "thinking" is like for someone on the autistic spectrum. I found it to be very insightful. I had to read it for a psych class though, which sucked some of the fun out of it, but it was a good read.

This was such a unique read. Christopher, a teenager with autism, sets out to solve the mystery of a dead dog and ends up uncovering way more than he expected. His perspective is funny, honest, and sometimes heartbreaking. The story is quirky and smart, with a great mix of mystery and emotion. A few parts felt a little slow, but overall it’s a thoughtful and memorable book.

If I didn't have a particular interest in this area, I would have given it three. However, I am a SUCKER for any firsthand accounts of autism. Throw in the visuals and I'm sold.
