A wonderful look at a unique mind. Telling this story from the point of view of a boy with autism/aspergers made it more immediate but his keen sense of observation also made the pathos of his parents situation seem somehow more tragic.
Humor is often found in seeing something surprising and while our protagonist claimed that he could tell no jokes, he had me laughing out loud at several spots.

I know my opinion of this book is in the minority. It is loved by many people. I didn't like it much and couldn't wait for it to be over.

I learned a lot of interesting things during this book. I hope they are accurate. :) We listened to this on a drive across the country and it was great to have the British accent to help with the feel of the story. It was very engaging. I usually have a tough time following books while I'm driving, but this one was so interesting and fun and unique. It was perfect for a long drive and not at all what I was expecting.

If I didn't have a particular interest in this area, I would have given it three. However, I am a SUCKER for any firsthand accounts of autism. Throw in the visuals and I'm sold.
