I read this in 9th grade and it was very interesting plot-wise, but I preferred The Odyssey.
In the meantime, quite a few men I know love this book. Maybe they find Pip relatable? While I do think this book is one of Dickens' strongest in terms of construction I think he should have stuck with his original ending and I *still* think it's overrated. I will try it again one day to see if I like it any better, but I just love so many other Dickens' books so much more than this one (even if they are ...more

I read this for 9th grade English, not really expecting to enjoy it, but finding that I did. I recently discovered that what I read then was an abridged version. Now I've got to reread it in its entirety.
