What Members Thought

Dec 2020 update:
Going back and rereading this after being caught up in the series is such a different feeling, catching the hints and reading between the lines. Knowing the characters and the why. An insider rather then an outsider.
Also I never realized that this reread was almost 5 years later.

If you are a lover of Beauty and the Beast retellings, if you like your fantasy to involve magical realms, fairies, romance, a wickedness that is just too good then you'll enjoy this book.

Pretty awesome start of a Series!!!! I would have to say I really think this series is going to take me on a very interesting and awesome adventure. I would have to say my favorite character was Rhysand, what can I say I really love a bad boy. I also felt more chemistry between him and Feyre than Feyre and Tamlin. I thought Tamlin did really care for Feyre though. I did see some chemistry between them through but just not as much.

Was this a great American novel? No. The plotting was weird, the character development is seriously lacking. Thinking back on it now, I'm actually confused and frustrated about SO much. However, was this an enjoyable, quick, fun read? Yes... Will I finish the remainder of the series? Also yes.

After reading THE CRUEL PRINCE earlier this year, I decided that it was time to jump into a longer series, and take a journey with the Fae. I figured since ACOTAR was so beloved, it would be a great starting point; and with the 4th book releasing soon, it would give incentive to binge the series. I was a bit skeptical, because fantasy is still a very new genre for me. I wasn't sure I could buy into a world so fantastical. I'm happy to say, the buy in was easy! I loved the world. It was vicious a

Initial Review:
Read in bits and pieces. Perhaps that is part of the reason this book was ok, but intrigued me enough to start the sequel.
My rating: 2 stars.
Re-read Review:
Again, read mostly in bits and pieces. I liked how the story was written, for the most part; especially knowing what I know now, after having finished the books published till now in the series quite a while ago, I kept looking for clues for major plot reveals for the others, and found that they did exist, but so subtly tha ...more

Might be spoilers ahead. Now, I didn't finish this book, so I'm not spoiling any end, but there might be some information here that spoils the story for you. Read on on your own risk.
I HATE Sarah Maas' heroines!
Feyre kills somebody and is to pay a life for a life.
She gets to choose whether she dies in front of her family, or goes to the fairyland and never sees her family again, giving her life to the fairies as compensation for the life she took.
She chooses to live.

I got this for my book swap partner and read it before I sent it. It's not great literature, but it's super entertaining. Beauty and the Beast meets Fablehaven meets Narnia. I really liked it and ignored my family to finish it--sure sign of either a great book or me putting off making dinner :)
