This book was a fun and interesting read. A grandson who is told all kinds of crazy stories about other children with magical gifts and talents, isn't sure if he can believe his grandfather or not. His grandfather does have pictures, but the stories just don't seem possible.
After the grandfather passes away, the grandson follows his grandfathers advice and seeks the place of these peculiar children.
The book follows his journey, what he learns about his grandfather and even about himself.

I loved it.
I was sooo excited to read this book. The premise did not fail to entice me. A story written around/based on old creepy photographs. What a great hook!

I was immediately sucked in. Then spit out again. Almost halfway through the book, the story took a turn that was unexpected and quite benign. I found this book a little disappointing. The pictures were really neat, but the story seem contrived to fit around the pictures. I guess in reality that's what it was, but it felt pretty forced in places. The story itself was kind of interesting, but didn't have me on the edge of my seat or anything. The ending is obviously gunning for a second book, but I'm not sure whether I'd read it or not. I wonder if he has more vintage photos on tap for a sequel?

4.5 Great story, little like Steven King but more modern. Works for me.
Soooooo sloooooow in the beginning. It's so hard for me to quit a book so I slogged through it. Then it got decent at the end. I feel like the book lacked depth and detail and I thought that the flow was off, but I appreciated the creativeness of the story.
