What Members Thought

I like the idea for the twist in this book but I struggle to be completely on board with Poirot's Sherlock-esque reasoning. Like "I saw an article in the paper and I know X person probably saw it and did X thing in response and therefore I know know 10 more things and it's all fallen into place in my mind." That's a lot of ifs there, buddy.

I enjoyed this novel, but coming in knowing it was a classic and that it had a "twist" I felt the reveal lacked a bit of a punch as I was waiting for/expecting it. Still, I appreciate the way the novel was crafted and it certainly earns it reputation as a good mystery. I just wish I'd gone in with lower expectations...So that's on me.

Broke all the rules of detective fiction, indeed.
I think this is one of Christie's best works. I literally can feel the chills running down my spine as the realization slowly built up.
It is VERY important though to dive into it with as little knowledge as possible. You better not read any review with description other than it being awesome. ...more
