One of the most criticized books in American Literature, particularly in the classroom. It’s slow moving plot is often prolonged by walls of descriptive prose in old English, which makes it tough initially to sink your teeth into. I do believe the reward is there. Personally, it took some effort to get into but as the story progressed these walls of prose became more natural and started to impress me.
