What Members Thought
Maybe I just made the mistake of reading this after the Hacienda, but this book just did not click with me. The book is neither particularly gothic apart from the setting taking place in an old mansion, and it is also not putting an emphasis on Mexican culture apart from taking place in Mexico. That is probably the fault of my perception of this book, and not the book's fault.

My first book started for the scary books for Halloween. This one was good, it caught my attention, it had suspense and kept you questioning. Up to a certain point there was the hint of what’s really going on and that made it that much scarier. When it then turned into what’s happening and the more unrealistic to became, the less I enjoyed it. I didn’t have any real gasping scary parts, but it was disturbing and kept my attention until the end.
I couldn’t put this one down.
