An expertly written gothic novel which creates an immersive sense of being trapped in the gloom, rot, and endless devouring with the main character Noemi. The story keeps a thrilling pace while also weaving themes of race and gender throughout the story in a poignant way.

No spoilers here, but I have to say that the best thing about this book is the main character.
It's about TIME I read a horror book... or a book in general... where the woman in it doesn't make stupid moves, stupid decision, or acts... stupid. She stands her ground and protects people. NICE!

Did not like it, found the plot boring and far fetched. Lots of disgusting and disturbing imagery.
