What Members Thought

In Station Eleven, a variant on the avian flu wipes out most of the world's population. The novel follows the lives of a few of the survivors twenty years after the catastrophe. Most are from a traveling symphony that performs Shakespeare at the settlements it visits.
The survivors are all linked by their relationship with one man: deceased actor Arthur Leander, who passed of a heart attack the night the flu started spreading.
Most post-apocalyptic stories I come across are action-packed. In those ...more

Exceptionally well crafted, character driven story.

Extremely well-written, character-driven, dystopian fiction with great use of flashbacks. So refreshing to experience a post-apocalyptic world not brought about by zombies!

An interesting and thought provoking concept. I especially enjoyed the unfolding events as a result of a pandemic, a topic I’ve given much thought to recently ; ) - and the drawing together of people who’s lives lightly touched before the fall of society. I hear there is a TV program, I will probably try to view someday, but for now, I’m content with book.

I loved this book! It is a story about a wandering symphony at the end of the world, after a flu has wiped out most of humanity. Electricity and the internet no longer exist. It is beautifully written--a few interconnected story lines. Kind of like The Road but not disturbing at all--just very hopeful and lots of humanity. Such a good read!

Excellent book. In te=he same distopian well-written class as The Girl With All the Gifts and Madd Addam trilogy.
