wow. i have no words.
after how much i loved daisy jones and the six, i was nervous about how this would compare BUT this was even better!
i love how the format allowed for them to really develop and explore the story in more detail. i loved the way TJR wove both evelyn's story and monique's life together. i like how you know off the bat that evelyn isn't a likeable character but she has enough complexity and depth that really makes your root for her and scream at her at the same time.

For a book I went into not really knowing much about and honestly only reading because I wanted to know what all of the hype and fuss was about, it blew me away. If someone was to describe this book to me, I would’ve probably of shrugged and then have had no intention of actually reading it. So going into it blind was the best thing for me.

A fictional exploration of old Hollywood, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo tells the story of Evelyn Hugo, a Hollywood icon, who has refused to give interviews for years. Now, in her late 70’s and her days of gracing the big screen behind her, she has decided to give an exclusive interview. She purposefully selects Monique, an unknown writer at Vivant magazine to write her biography. Monique has never written a novel, much less a biography. And through their time spent together, Evelyn narrates

Overall, I found this book to be an enjoyable read. It was quick and easy - a quintessential beach read (sadly, I did not read this at the beach). Many are fascinated by the Golden Ages of Hollywood, and this book definitely delivers a sneak peek into what living in Hollywood at that time might have been like.
The biggest issue I have with this book is its predictability. (view spoiler) ...more

A piece of advice for reading this book: pay attention. Don't underestimate it as pop literature. Don't read it during busy moments where you're not fully paying attention. I did that, and I absolutely did NOT see the pivotal twist coming--but, in retrospect, I probably should have. (view spoiler)
