3.5 stars. Fascinating story and I like how it was told from multiple perspectives. Different than pop culture Dracula. Was way too long, repetitive at times, dull at others. Sorry, Bram.
I had this book on my book shelf; it is a Barnes & Noble classic and I understand it may be a little different than some of the other Dracula books. It was a good read and not as gory as I thought it would be.
The use of a typewriter in the book was a surprise to me so I checked; In 1829 William Austin Burt invented the Typographer, it was considered (along other machines) as the first typewriter and in 1870, Thomas Edison invented the first electric typewriter

Hm. Not much to say about this exceedingly long literary classic, said to be the father of all vampire books. Not a bad read, but not the best, though my view might be biased, based on the fact that one of my favorite characters dies quite unnecessarily at the end. Meh.

The danger was palpable and the plot tightly woven. There were very few face to face encounters with the Dracula. However, even glimpses and shadows of the great Dracula erect hairs on down my neck.
