THE GOLDFINCH is long, verbose, profound. Many times depressing. I'm not sure I understood much of what I was reading. I'm not sure I was supposed to understand much of it either. I'm sure the book will speak to some the same way THE GOLDFINCH painting spoke to Welty, Audrey Decker, and Theo Decker. ...more

I liked the first chapter (each chapter being roughly 100 pages in my OverDrive ebook). The first half of the last chapter was okay. The rest was just too much. It went downhill fast and just kept going down.
