What Members Thought
I am both ecstatic and sorry to have finished this book. I loved it and was exasperated by it in equal measure. It took me a month to read. A MONTH! I groan at the memory of the long side trips away from the plot at the most frustrating moments to explore things like the Battle of Waterloo, the history of convents, specific orders of nuns and their daily lives etc. Around page 1300 or so Hugo goes on a long diatribe about the history of the French sewer system which made me wonder if they had ed
