What Members Thought
I was really looking forward to reading this book initially. I have a couple other books by Toni Morison, and they sound like they could be quite interesting, though I have not previously read anything by her, there was something about her which seemed to appeal to me, and I do have a general interest in African American literature. Plus I had heard good things about Beloved, and was intrigued by the fact that it was a ghost story.

Such an incredibly thought-provoking book. Reading it and discussing it were sometimes difficult, but difficult in the right way. It challenges preconceived thought about many things, even beyond the issue of slavery, racism, etc. Perhaps the most difficult part though, is the way it unflinchingly confronts readers with the horrors of the past. This is definitely for an older audience and would be great for in-depth discussions.
Good book, though a little hard for me to follow at times (distractions galore in my house, I think). My heart broke for the loneliness in Denver. This is a book I'll be thinking about for some time. I look forward to rereading it.
