This was really good. Much better than I expected it to be. It actually held my son's attention too & led to many interesting discussions about the Russian Revolution, Communism, etc. I was afraid the book would be too old for him, or too boring, or too graphic, but it was none of those things. I was considering giving it 5 stars just for holding a not-real-bookish 11 year old's attention! It is said to be an allegory for Russian Revolution. But it actually fit -some part, here and there, if not all- to many other political situation.

I didn't enjoy reading this book in high school. Maybe I need to give it another chance now that I've matured and have become an adult!
