I read this in high school, but remembered virtually nothing about it except that it was about spoiled, rich people that I couldn't identify with in any way and didn't enjoy much. It's probably over the heads of most high school students. Yes, the prose is lovely, but it's still about spoiled, rich people that I can't identify with. I wonder if this novella would have sunk without trace had it retained the title "Trimalchio in West Egg". Personally I would not have been drawn to even pick that title off the shelf- but then the only reason I have read it now is that I wanted to read it before seeing the movie.
