Charming, different, educational (but not too educational), this is the story of a Russian aristocrat who, instead of being executed after the Revolution, is sentenced to house arrest in the Metropol hotel. He is an entertaining character and so are the other guests, employees, and scenarios that cross his path during his many years there. Reminded me of a cross between 'The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler' and 'A Man Called Ove.' It has food, friendship, love, loss, loneliness, cape ...more
