What a wonderful story! I so enjoyed reading this but kept thinking "I can hardly wait to reach the ending to find out what happens" and then suddenly thinking "I don't want this story to ever end!" I get my wish (er, both of them). :)

😍 this was so much fun! I realized I had started reading it on Nov 16, 2018, a date of which the author died just a few hours prior.
Save the 25th and 30th anniversary introduction for after you finish the book. I think it is more fun/less spoilery that way.
Very similar to the amazing movie, the book goes a bit deeper into backstory of some characters. I particularly love the whole Goldman as Morgenstern bit, and the asides within the narrative. Also the premise of "abridging" a classic to make i ...more

Honestly I have no idea how I would feel about this book if I had never seen the movie; it's impossible to read without seeing the movie in your head at the same time. In the book Buttercup is dumber, the author pop-ins are more annoying, and the Pit of Insanity is called the Zoo of Death and involves more dead animals...so by and large I'd say the movie made some good calls. I wondered if it would be the Princess Bride only MORE so, but no- it was mostly the same charming, funny story.
