Soo...nachdem ich das Buch 2-3x gelesen habe geb ich ihm nun doch 5 Sterne. Irgendwie sind mir die Personen so ans Herz gewachsen, die Geschichte trotz all des Grauens irgendwie auch schön und immer wieder spannend. Wahnsinn wie anders das Leben abläuft wenn man in anderen Kulturen und Ländern aufwächst, wie das Schicksal manchen Menschen übel mitspielen kann. Traurig, sehr traurig...aber trotzdem schön und empfehlenswert für alle!
Achingly splendid.
"Privileged American" that I am(not), I had never really paid attention to how people live in other cultures. This book had me at page one. I felt like I was there with Mariam as she tried to just survive and live.
