I found this to be a well-written suburban drama, but very similar to many other titles, like “Big Little Lies” and “The Husband’s Secret”. Taking place in an affluent neighborhood, it was a bit cliche at times, especially in regard to the characters and their personalities (the popular girl, the jock, the emo book lover, the angry/troubled sibling, the girl with a lower socioeconomic status than the rest). I had heard so many good things about this book. Unfortunately it was not that great for me. Easy enough to read, kept my attention. I waited for it to go somewhere but then it was over.
This book was slow to start, slow enough half way through I read the reviews with spoilers to keep me going. I powered through and finished. I was finally thoroughly enjoying it and invested in the outcome of the story when the book ended. Just sort of fizzled out and then nothing...literally every question in this book aside from who set the house on fire and why never got answered.
