Let's start with the positives: I can absolutely see why so many people fell in love with this book. The story is sweeping and magical and the writing is beautiful and lyrical. It's a fantastic adventure that has a lot of heart. That being said, though, I just wasn't the right reader for this book. It moved very slowly and I think a good editor could've excised 100 pages without losing any of the atmosphere. I was also really frustrated with the way (view spoiler) ...more
