What Members Thought

Oh sure, I love this book because of the tragedy and romance of the French revolution, and for the amazing prose and the exciting story, but mostly I love it because Sydney Carton is one of the original tragic bad-boy heroes. It's no coincidence that the latest Batman movie ended with Sydney's famous "It is a far, far better thing that I do than I have ever done..." quote. Sydney IS Batman...250 years ago. I read this in high school or college. I'm new here and just getting my shelves in order. At this time all I am going to say is that I considered the book either very enjoyable and/or it left me with something to mentally bounce around,otherwise I wouldn't be so-25-years-later-certain that I read it. Oh, and while I don't recall the hero's name, I do remember he died "tragically for true love" and of course there was Madame Defarge happily and obsessively knitting while the heads were rolling.
