Oh sure, I love this book because of the tragedy and romance of the French revolution, and for the amazing prose and the exciting story, but mostly I love it because Sydney Carton is one of the original tragic bad-boy heroes. A masterpiece by a master. What else can I even say? Reading this at 33, I only regret not reading it sooner, though I’m sure I will read it several times over again in the rest of my life.
